Plant Care
We recommend Drosera capensis (Cape Sundew) or Nepenthes ventricosa for beginners. Both are forgiving, grow well on windowsills, and don't need terrariums.
Yes — never use regular potting mix or garden soil. Use a mix of peat moss and perlite (1:1) or pure live sphagnum moss. Garden soil contains nutrients and microbes that kill carnivorous plants.
Only distilled, RO, or rainwater. Tap water and mineral water contain dissolved salts that accumulate in the soil and cause root burn over time.
Feeding is optional indoors. The plant will grow fine without feeding if it gets enough light. If you want to feed, use small live or freshly killed insects — never raw meat or human food.
Black traps are normal and not a sign of illness. Old traps naturally blacken and die off; trim them to keep the plant tidy. As long as new traps are forming, the plant is healthy.
Nepenthes
Lowland Nepenthes (N. ventricosa, N. alata) tolerate 50–70% RH found in most Indian homes. Highland species need 70–90% and cooler nights — harder to grow without a chamber.
Low light and low humidity are the most common causes. Move the plant to a brighter spot (no direct midday sun) and mist the leaves daily. Nepenthes pitchers take 4–8 weeks to form from a tendril.
In coastal and humid areas (Kerala, coastal Karnataka, Chennai), lowland species do very well outdoors in dappled shade. Avoid direct harsh afternoon sun.
Dionaea (Venus Flytrap)
Traps require two separate triggers within 20 seconds to fire — this prevents wasting energy on raindrops. If the trap is old and blackening, it won't close; new traps will form.
Yes — at least 4–6 hours of direct sun daily is ideal. In Indian summers, protect from harsh afternoon sun (1–4 pm). A bright east or west-facing windowsill works well.
Venus Flytraps need a cool winter dormancy (temperatures below 15 °C for 2–3 months). In most of India, this happens naturally November–January. The plant loses leaves — this is normal.
Returns & Guarantees
We guarantee plants arrive alive and healthy. If a plant arrives dead or severely damaged due to packing/transit issues, we'll replace or refund — just WhatsApp us within 24 hours of delivery with photos.
We do not accept returns for change-of-mind orders. Plants are perishable items. Please make sure to research care requirements before purchasing.
