We started Carnivorous Plants India because we couldn’t find what we were looking for — a reliable, specialist source for healthy carnivorous plants in India. Most plants available locally were poorly labelled, poorly cared for, or simply the wrong species entirely. We decided to fix that.

Phyto Evolution is a Chennai-based plant science company with roots in tissue culture and botanical research. Our carnivorous plant collection grew out of that background — we treat every plant as a scientific specimen, not just a product. That means correct species identification, appropriate growing conditions during transit, and honest care guidance so your plant actually thrives after it reaches you.

What We Grow and Source

Our collection spans the major carnivorous genera — Nepenthes, Sarracenia, Dionaea, Drosera, Cephalotus, and Pinguicula. We prioritise plants that are either tissue-culture propagated or nursery-grown from seed, reducing pressure on wild populations. Every plant is grown or hardened in conditions as close as possible to its natural habitat before it leaves us.

Why Carnivorous Plants?

These are some of the most remarkable organisms on the planet — evolved over millions of years to thrive in nutrient-poor environments by supplementing their diet with insects. They are also surprisingly well-suited to Indian homes. Many highland Nepenthes do well in Chennai’s ambient humidity. Drosera and Dionaea tolerate India’s summers with the right watering routine. We’re here to help you find the right species for your climate and skill level.

Our Promise

We don’t stock plants we wouldn’t grow ourselves. We ship carefully, communicate honestly, and if something goes wrong in transit, we deal with it fairly. No corporate runaround — just a small team that genuinely cares about these plants.
