🌿 About this plant

This is the Female, Extra Large (XL) specimen of the (N. × viking × ampullaria) × veitchii Pink triple hybrid — the showpiece plant in this lineage. An XL female specimen represents years of cultivation from a premium hybrid background. The female sexual identity is confirmed — this plant can produce seed when pollinated with pollen from a compatible male clone.

At XL size, the pitchers are fully expressing the triple hybrid heritage: the compact, wide-mouthed pitcher body from the ampullaria lineage, the volume and vigour from viking, and the wide, pink-toned peristome from veitchii. Multiple active pitchers are present at time of dispatch.

This is part of a series of complex Nepenthes hybrids combining the N. × viking base (a vigorous lowland hybrid known for wide, productive pitchers and hybrid vigour), N. ampullaria (the leaf-litter specialised ground rosette pitcher plant), and N. veitchii (one of Borneo's most visually spectacular species, famous for the extraordinarily wide, candy-striped peristome that can span the full diameter of the pitcher mouth in mature specimens).

The triple parentage creates plants of outstanding collector value: the compactness and rosette habit of ampullaria, the pitcher width and vigour of viking, and the showpiece peristome of veitchii — all in a single, cultivable package that is more adaptable than any of the parent species in isolation.

The Pink colouration in these hybrids refers specifically to the peristome (rim) colour, which develops a warm pink to coral tone that intensifies with higher light exposure and day-night temperature differential. Pitchers are produced in succession along the growing stem.

• 🫧 Week 1: unbox immediately, sit the pot in a bright, shaded, humid spot and let the plant settle for 3–4 days before any repotting
