A courier trip is stressful for any plant. Most new Nepenthes settle in within a few weeks, as long as the first days are calm.
Day one
- Open the box in a shaded, quiet place and unpack the plant gently.
- Check the plant and the medium. Do not shake or pull it.
- If the medium is dry, water with clean low-TDS water until it drains; if it is wet, leave it be.
- Place it in bright shade with good humidity, out of direct sun and out of draughts from fans or air conditioners.
What is normal
- A few old leaves may yellow or drop. This is a reaction to the move.
- Open pitchers may dry or turn brown while new growth forms.
- Growth may pause for a few weeks.
Week by week
- Week 1: bright shade, steady humidity, no fertiliser, no repotting.
- Weeks 2 to 3: increase light gradually if the plant looks firm and green.
- Week 4 onward: look for new leaves and tendrils, and start normal care.
When to worry
A plant that turns black and mushy at the crown, or smells, needs help. WhatsApp us a photo through the contact page and we will advise.
